Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 27 April 2026

Please read these terms carefully. By submitting an application, making a payment, or using any SteadyWeb service, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use our service.

1. Introduction & definitions

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") form a legally binding agreement between:

  • "SteadyWeb", "we", "us", "our": the managed website service operated from the United Kingdom.
  • "Client", "you", "your": the individual or business entity subscribing to the SteadyWeb service.

Additional definitions used throughout these Terms:

  • "Service": the design, development, hosting, management and ongoing maintenance of a website, together with domain registration and business email provision, as described in Section 6.
  • "Website": the website designed and built by SteadyWeb on your behalf as part of the Service.
  • "Subscription": your rolling monthly agreement to pay the applicable fee in exchange for the Service.
  • "Content": text, images, logos, videos, documents and any other materials provided by you or created by us for inclusion on the Website.
  • "Credentials": login details, passwords, API keys and access tokens for hosting, domain, email, WordPress and any third-party accounts related to the Website.

2. The service

SteadyWeb provides a managed website service for tradespeople, tradesmen and local service businesses across the United Kingdom. The Service includes the design, development, hosting, security, maintenance and ongoing management of a professional website for your business, as further detailed in Sections 6 and 7.

SteadyWeb is a service provider, not an employer, partner, agent or joint venture partner of the Client. Nothing in these Terms creates any such relationship.

3. Application & onboarding

3.1 To use the Service, you must submit an application via our website or another method we make available. Submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance.

3.2 We reserve the right to decline any application at our sole discretion, without obligation to provide reasons. Common reasons for declining include businesses operating in industries we choose not to serve, applications containing false information, or where we reasonably believe the Service would not be suitable.

3.3 Upon acceptance, we will begin the onboarding process, which includes gathering your Content, registering your domain (if applicable), and designing the Website. You agree to provide accurate, complete and timely information as requested.

3.4 Before going live, we will provide a preview of the Website for your approval. You will have the opportunity to request reasonable revisions. Once you approve the design (either explicitly in writing/email or by confirming verbally), the Website will be published and your Subscription begins.

3.5 If you fail to provide necessary Content or feedback within 30 days of our initial request, we reserve the right to publish the Website using placeholder content or to suspend the onboarding process. If no response is received within 60 days, we may terminate the arrangement without liability.

4. Pricing & payment

4.1 The standard price for the Service is £65 per month (inclusive of VAT where applicable). Eligibility for Promotional or Legacy pricing is governed by the terms set out in Section 5.

4.2 There is no upfront design or setup fee. Your first monthly payment is collected on the date the Website goes live and you have approved the design.

4.3 Payments are collected monthly in advance via the payment method you provide. You authorise us to charge the applicable fee on each billing date.

4.4 If a payment fails, we will notify you and make reasonable attempts to collect the outstanding amount. If payment remains outstanding for 14 days after the due date, we reserve the right to suspend the Website (take it offline) until payment is received. If payment remains outstanding for 30 days, we may terminate the Subscription and take down the Website.

4.5 We reserve the right to change the Subscription fee with 30 days' written notice (via email). Any price change will take effect at the start of your next billing cycle after the notice period. If you do not agree to the new price, you may cancel before the change takes effect.

4.6 All fees are quoted in British Pounds Sterling (GBP). We do not offer refunds for partial months of service, except where required by law.

5. Preferential & Legacy Rates

5.1 SteadyWeb may, from time to time, offer the Service at a discounted or promotional rate (a "Preferential Rate") for specific marketing campaigns, seasonal offers, or limited-time incentives.

5.2 Once a Subscription is active at a Preferential Rate, that price becomes a "Legacy Rate" and is locked in for the lifetime of your continuous Subscription. "Continuous" means your Subscription has not been cancelled and restarted. If you cancel and later re-subscribe, the standard market rate at that time will apply.

5.3 Preferential or Legacy Rate status is non-transferable and remains tied to the original account; it cannot be assigned to another person or business.

5.4 SteadyWeb determines, at its sole discretion, the availability, duration, and eligibility criteria for any Preferential Rate. We are not obligated to notify applicants once a specific promotional quota or time-limit has been reached.

6. What's included

The monthly Subscription includes the following:

  • Custom-designed website of up to 5 pages
  • Fully responsive design (mobile, tablet, desktop)
  • One domain name registration and renewal (e.g., yourbusiness.co.uk), registered in your name
  • UK-based web hosting
  • SSL certificate (HTTPS)
  • One professional business email address (e.g., [email protected])
  • Working contact form with email notifications
  • On-page SEO foundations (meta titles, descriptions, heading structure, local schema markup)
  • Weekly website backups (rolling 30-day retention)
  • Security monitoring, firewall and malware scanning
  • WordPress core and plugin updates
  • Up to 40 minutes of content updates and minor changes per calendar month
  • Monthly website performance report (delivered via email)
About the 40-minute monthly allowance: This covers minor content changes such as updating text, swapping images, adding a new service, or changing contact details. Unused time does not roll over to the following month. Requests that exceed 40 minutes in a given month will be quoted separately before any additional work is carried out.

7. What's not included

SteadyWeb is focused on lead-generating websites for trades and local service businesses. The following are not part of the standard Subscription and are either available as separate paid add-on services or must be arranged independently:

  • Custom photography or videography
  • Long-form copywriting or blog content beyond the initial 5 pages and the included monthly updates
  • Google Ads (PPC) setup or management
  • Social media management, setup or content creation
  • Additional pages beyond the included 5
  • Additional email addresses beyond the included 1
  • Third-party software licences, premium plugins or premium theme licences (unless explicitly agreed in writing)
  • Any legal compliance specific to your industry (e.g. FCA disclaimers, medical disclaimers): you are responsible for providing legally required text

Add-on services will be quoted separately, agreed in writing (email is sufficient), and billed independently of the monthly Subscription.

What we do not offer at all: SteadyWeb does not provide e-commerce / online shop functionality, online booking systems, or membership platforms. We've chosen to focus exclusively on lead-generating websites for tradespeople and local service businesses, which is what we do best. If you need any of the above, we'll happily recommend a specialist.

8. Content & your responsibilities

8.1 You are responsible for providing Content for the Website, including text, images, logos, and any other materials. Where you are unable to provide Content, we may use high-quality stock imagery and draft text based on information you supply, subject to your approval.

8.2 You warrant and represent that:

  • All Content you provide is accurate, truthful and not misleading.
  • You own or have the necessary rights, licences and permissions to use and authorise us to use all Content provided.
  • The Content does not infringe the intellectual property rights, privacy rights or any other rights of any third party.
  • The Content does not violate any applicable law or regulation.

8.3 You are solely responsible for ensuring that your Website complies with all laws, regulations and industry standards applicable to your business, including but not limited to advertising standards, professional body requirements, and sector-specific regulations.

8.4 We reserve the right to refuse to publish any Content that we reasonably believe to be unlawful, defamatory, obscene, fraudulent, harmful, or in breach of these Terms.

8.5 You are responsible for keeping your own contact details, business information and any time-sensitive content on the Website up to date. Requests for changes should be sent to [email protected].

9. Intellectual property & ownership

9.1 Your content

You retain full ownership of all Content you provide to us (text, images, logos, trademarks, etc.). By providing Content, you grant SteadyWeb a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, display and reproduce that Content solely for the purpose of delivering the Service.

9.2 Website design and code

During the first 6 months: The website design, custom code, page layouts and visual structure created by SteadyWeb remain the intellectual property of SteadyWeb. You have a licence to use the Website as part of your active Subscription.

After 6 months of continuous Subscription: Full ownership of the website design, custom code and all associated files transfers to you. From that point, you are free to move, modify, or repurpose the Website without restriction or additional charge.

This ownership model reflects the fact that the initial design and build is provided at no upfront cost and is subsidised by the monthly Subscription fee.

9.3 Third-party assets

The Website may include third-party assets such as stock images, fonts, WordPress themes or plugins that are licensed (not owned) by SteadyWeb or you. These remain subject to their respective licence terms. Upon transfer of the Website to you, we will provide details of any third-party licences that need to be maintained.

9.4 SteadyWeb branding

We may include a small, discreet "Website by SteadyWeb" credit in the footer of the Website. You may request removal of this credit at any time, and we will comply within a reasonable timeframe at no charge.

9.5 Portfolio use

We may use screenshots or descriptions of the Website in our portfolio, marketing materials and case studies, unless you instruct us otherwise in writing. No confidential business information will be disclosed.

10. Cancellation

10.1 You may cancel your Subscription at any time by notifying us via email at [email protected]. No reason is required.

10.2 Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid billing period. The Website will remain live until that date.

10.3 After the billing period ends:

  • The Website will be taken offline.
  • Website files, databases and backups will be retained for 30 days in case you change your mind, after which they will be permanently deleted.
  • All stored Credentials will be securely deleted within 30 days (or transferred to you on request, see Section 13).

10.4 We do not provide refunds for unused portions of a billing period. If you cancel on day 5 of your billing cycle, the Website remains live for the remaining days of that period, but no pro-rated refund is issued.

10.5 If you wish to re-subscribe after cancellation, standard pricing at that time will apply. Any previous preferential & legacy rates will not be reinstated.

Cancellation by SteadyWeb

10.6 We may terminate your Subscription immediately if:

  • You breach these Terms and fail to remedy the breach within 14 days of written notice.
  • Payment remains outstanding for 30 or more days.
  • You use the Website in violation of the Acceptable Use policy (Section 15).
  • Continuing the Service would expose SteadyWeb to legal liability.

10.7 We may also discontinue the SteadyWeb service entirely with 90 days' written notice. In this event, we will provide you with all Website files, databases, Credentials and assistance needed to migrate to another provider, at no additional charge.

11. Website transfer

Summary: You can cancel at any time without paying a transfer fee. The site simply comes down. The transfer fee only applies if you want to take the website we designed and move it to another hosting provider or developer.

11.1 Within the first 6 months: If you wish to transfer the Website (files, design, database) to another provider, a one-off transfer fee of £250 (inclusive of VAT) applies. This covers the initial design, development and setup costs that were not charged upfront.

11.2 After 6 months of continuous Subscription: The Website is yours to transfer free of charge. We will provide all files, databases, Credentials, and reasonable assistance to facilitate the migration.

11.3 The transfer fee applies only to the transfer of the Website we designed. It does not apply if you simply cancel and allow the site to be taken down.

11.4 Transfer requests must be made in writing (email is sufficient). Upon receipt of the transfer fee (where applicable) or confirmation of eligibility for free transfer, we will provide the Website files and migration assistance within 10 working days.

11.5 After transfer, SteadyWeb has no further obligation to host, maintain, secure or support the Website. Any issues arising after transfer are the sole responsibility of you and/or your new provider.

12. Domain name ownership

12.1 Any domain name registered as part of the Service is registered in your name. You are the legal owner (registrant) of the domain.

12.2 We manage the domain on your behalf during the Subscription, including DNS configuration and renewal. Domain renewal costs are included in your monthly fee.

12.3 Upon cancellation or transfer, we will provide you with full access to your domain registrar account, including login credentials and any authorisation codes needed to transfer the domain to another registrar. You retain full ownership regardless of whether you pay a transfer fee for the Website itself.

12.4 If you already own a domain name, we can configure it to work with the Website we build. We may require your cooperation to update DNS settings or provide registrar access.

13. Credential storage, data processing & access

13.1 As part of delivering the Service, we create and/or store Credentials for your hosting, domain, WordPress admin, email and related accounts. Full details of what we store, how we protect it, and your rights regarding Credential access are set out in our Privacy Policy, Section 5.

13.2 You may request at any time that we:

  • Provide you with a copy of all stored Credentials
  • Delete stored Credentials from our systems
  • Restrict our access to specific accounts

13.3 If you revoke our access to certain Credentials, we may be unable to perform parts of the Service (e.g., updates, backups, security monitoring). We will inform you of the specific impact, and you accept responsibility for managing those accounts yourself.

13.4 Upon cancellation, all stored Credentials will be securely deleted within 30 days, or transferred to you on request.

13.5 You acknowledge and agree that, in order to deliver the Service, parts of the design, development, technical SEO and ongoing optimisation work are performed by our production team based in Pakistan, acting as our processor under a written processing agreement and the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or equivalent safeguards, as further described in our Privacy Policy, Section 8. As a deliberate data-minimisation measure, your personal identity data (name, email address, phone number, postal/billing address and payment details) and personal data submitted by your customers through your live website's enquiry forms are held only by the UK side of SteadyWeb and are not transferred to or accessed by our overseas team. The overseas team accesses only the information needed to build and maintain the public-facing website (your business details, public-facing content, aggregated analytics, and account credentials on a strict need-to-use basis).

14. Uptime & service levels

14.1 We aim to maintain 99.9% uptime for the websites we host, excluding scheduled maintenance, third-party provider outages, and circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

14.2 We do not provide a formal Service Level Agreement (SLA) or financial credits for downtime. We will, however, make every reasonable effort to resolve outages as quickly as possible and keep you informed.

14.3 Scheduled maintenance will be carried out during off-peak hours where possible. We will give you reasonable notice of any planned maintenance that may result in downtime exceeding 15 minutes.

14.4 We aim to respond to support requests within 1 working day (Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, excluding UK public holidays). Critical issues (e.g., site completely down, security breach) will be prioritised.

15. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Website or Service to:

  • Host, store, display or distribute any content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, threatening, abusive, fraudulent or that violates any third-party rights.
  • Distribute malware, viruses, spam or any malicious software or code.
  • Conduct phishing, scam operations or any form of fraud.
  • Infringe any intellectual property, copyright, trademark or patent rights.
  • Collect, harvest or store personal data of third parties without their consent and a lawful basis.
  • Engage in any activity that violates applicable UK law or international law.
  • Overload, disrupt or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, servers or other clients' websites.
  • Resell, sublicense or redistribute the Service to third parties without our written consent.

Violation of this Acceptable Use policy may result in immediate suspension or termination of the Service without notice or refund.

16. Limitation of liability

Please read this section carefully. It sets out the limits of our legal responsibility to you.

16.1 The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we make every reasonable effort to ensure the Website is fast, secure and available, we make no warranties or representations, express or implied, regarding:

  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Website
  • Specific search engine rankings, traffic levels or business results
  • The suitability of the Service for your particular business needs
  • The security of data transmitted over the internet

16.2 To the fullest extent permitted by law, SteadyWeb shall not be liable for any:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, revenue, business, data, goodwill, or anticipated savings
  • Damages arising from your reliance on any information provided by us
  • Loss or damage arising from events beyond our reasonable control

16.3 Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising from or relating to the Service shall not exceed the total fees paid by you in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

16.4 We are not liable for any loss, damage or unauthorised access arising from Credential storage where we have implemented the security measures described in our Privacy Policy. If you revoke our Credential access, the responsibility for securing those accounts transfers to you.

16.5 We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, legality or completeness of the information you provide for the Website. You are solely responsible for ensuring compliance with laws and regulations applicable to your business and industry.

16.6 We are not responsible for the performance, availability or actions of third-party service providers (hosting companies, domain registrars, payment processors, plugin developers), although we select such providers with due care.

16.7 Any statistics, projections or claims referenced in our marketing materials (e.g., potential increases in enquiries or business growth) are based on third-party industry data and general market research. Individual results will vary and are not guaranteed.

16.8 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
  • Any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law

17. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless SteadyWeb, its directors, employees, contractors and agents from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or relating to:

  • Your breach of these Terms
  • Content you provide that infringes third-party rights or violates applicable law
  • Your use of the Website or Service in a manner not authorised by these Terms
  • Any claims by your customers or third parties arising from the Content or operation of the Website
  • Your failure to comply with applicable laws, regulations or industry standards

18. Force majeure

SteadyWeb shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform its obligations under these Terms where such delay or failure results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, war, terrorism, pandemics, government actions, power failures, internet or telecommunications failures, cyber-attacks, strikes, or the failure of third-party service providers.

In the event of a force majeure lasting more than 60 consecutive days, either party may terminate the agreement by written notice.

19. Amendments to these terms

19.1 We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
  • Notify active clients by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect
  • Publish the revised Terms on this page

19.2 Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you may cancel your Subscription before the changes take effect.

20. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or if modification is not possible, severed from these Terms. The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

21. Entire agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any additional written agreements between us, constitute the entire agreement between you and SteadyWeb. They supersede all prior negotiations, representations, warranties and understandings, whether written or oral.

No waiver of any provision of these Terms shall be effective unless made in writing and signed by SteadyWeb. A failure to exercise or delay in exercising any right under these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right.

22. Governing law & disputes

22.1 These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

22.2 In the event of a dispute, both parties agree to attempt to resolve the matter through good-faith negotiation in the first instance. If a resolution cannot be reached within 30 days, either party may pursue the matter through the courts of England and Wales, which shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

22.3 Nothing in this clause prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive or equitable relief from any court of competent jurisdiction.
